Arizona Diamondbacks starting pitcher Eduardo Rodriguez did not have his best stuff in Tuesday's 8-3 loss to the Mets. Rodriguez pitched just four innings, allowing eight runs on nine hits (including three home runs) and a walk with one strikeout. The 32-year-old has been erratic this season, with this start adding one-and-a-half runs to his season ERA. He is now 1-3 with a 6.06 ERA, a 1.44 WHIP, and a 9.64 K/9 rate in six starts and 32 2/3 IP. Unfortunately, things won't get easier for E Rod in his next scheduled start, which will be at the Phillies. Fantasy managers may consider sitting him for that matchup given the potential for another low-floor outing.

Texas Rangers starting pitcher Jacob deGrom picked up his first win of the season in Tuesday's 15-2 drubbing of the Athletics. deGrom pitched six scoreless innings, allowing four hits and no walks with seven strikeouts. The 36-year-old has pitched well overall so far this season, going 1-1 with a 2.73 ERA, a 1.00 WHIP, and a 9.00 K/9 rate. While his peripherals have been excellent overall, they have not been quite as outstanding when compared to his career standards. However, deGrom has stayed healthy to this point, which is the biggest fantasy concern. He will look to keep things going in his next matchup, which will be a tougher one against a hot Mariners lineup.

Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Max Scherzer (thumb) completed a 27-pitch bullpen session on Friday. Toronto manager John Schneider noted that it was a "step in the right direction" for the veteran right-hander. Scherzer has been sidelined with this injury after making his season debut on March 29. In this outing, Scherzer lasted just three innings before exiting the contest. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status, but it appears Scherzer will need to complete several more bullpen sessions before being cleared to embark on a rehab assignment. Last season, the 40-year-old was limited to numerous injuries and logged just 43 1/3 innings on the bump. Even though he has battled injuries over the past few seasons, when on the mound, he has been effective. Fantasy managers in deeper formats should continue to stash Scherzer while he slowly increases his workload.

Cincinnati Reds manager Terry Francona said that infielder Jeimer Candelario (back) spoke up on Tuesday about a lower-back injury that he's been dealing with. The Reds are looking at Candelario, who is out of the starting lineup for Tuesday's divisional tilt against the visiting St. Louis Cardinals. Spencer Steer is at first base and batting sixth, while Noelvi Marte is at the hot corner and hitting fifth against Cardinals right-hander Miles Mikolas. Candelario has found himself on the bench more of late due to his slow start at the plate, and his back injury could be the primary culprit. The 31-year-old switch-hitter is batting just .113/.198/.213 with two homers and 10 RBI in the first month of the season. Don't rule out an injured-list stint if his back doesn't improve. Marte will benefit from a playing-time standpoint for however long Candelario is out.

Updating a previous report, New York Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo (illness) is out of the lineup on Tuesday against the visiting Arizona Diamondbacks with some sort of flu, according to Newsday's Laura Albanese. Nimmo is getting an IV and could be available to play off the bench. With Nimmo under the weather, Jose Azocar will man left field in Queens and will bat ninth against Diamondbacks left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez. It was a bit odd to see Nimmo out of the starting lineup a day after going 4-for-6 with two home runs and nine RBI, but now we know it's because he's not feeling well. Fantasy managers will want to check back on Wednesday to see if he's feeling good enough to return to action. Azocar has four hits in his first 10 at-bats with the Mets this year, but those playing DFS will want to avoid the 28-year-old Venezuelan out of the nine-hole.

New York Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo had a career day at the plate on Monday but finds himself on the bench for Tuesday's contest against the visiting Arizona Diamondbacks with left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez on the bump. Jose Azocar will start in left field and will bat ninth against Rodriguez. Nimmo went 4-for-6 with two home runs and nine RBI in the 19-5 thrashing of the Washington Nationals on Monday. It was a nice offensively explosion for the 32-year-old veteran, who is still hitting only .218 (24-for-110) on the season with 21 RBI and 13 runs scored. He ranks tied for 14th in MLB with his 21 RBI. Expect to see Nimmo back in the Mets' starting lineup on Wednesday. Azocar has four hits in his first 10 at-bats this year but will be a low-upside DFS play in the nine-hole on Tuesday against a pitcher he has never faced.

After signing left-handed reliever Brooks Raley (elbow) to a one-year major-league deal earlier this month with a team option for the 2026 season, the New York Mets placed him on the 15-day injured list. The Mets also moved left-hander Sean Manaea (oblique) to the 60-day IL to open up a 40-man roster spot for Raley. The 36-year-old Raley is recovering from Tommy John surgery and probably isn't going to be a relief option for New York's bullpen until the second half of the season. He spent the last two seasons with the Mets but only appeared in eight games out of the bullpen in 2024 before being shut down with his elbow injury. Raley was a key member of the bullpen in 2023, when he had a 2.80 ERA (3.68 FIP), a 1.26 WHIP, three saves, 61 strikeouts and 25 walks in 54 2/3 innings. He will continue to build up his arm after TJ surgery.

New York Mets president of baseball operations David Stearns said that outfielder Jose Siri's (leg) absence should be around eight to 10 weeks from the time of his injury, which makes it possible that he could return sometime in June. It's a more optimistic timeline that what The Athletic's Tim Britton had based on other players who fractured their tibias and typically required four to five months to return. With the 29-year-old sideline, Tyrone Taylor has been a regular in center field for the Mets but hasn't really taken advantage of the playing time, hitting just .178 (13-for-73) with no homers, three RBI, one steal and seven runs scored. Siri had been even worse to open up his first year in Queens with just one hit in 20 at-bats before fracturing his left tibia. When the Dominican outfielder returns in June, he's going to need to hit a lot better to steal playing time away from Taylor.

Minnesota Twins right-handed reliever Michael Tonkin (shoulder) is scheduled to make a pair of multi-inning minor-league rehab outings for Triple-A St. Paul, according to The Athletic's Dan Hayes. Tonkin has already made three rehab appearances with Single-A Fort Myers and St. Paul, allowing six runs (five earned) on eight hits (four homers) while walking none and striking out six in just 4 1/3 innings of work. The 35-year-old veteran reliever hasn't had the best results, but the only thing that matters is that he hasn't had a setback with his shoulder. If he's able to get through his multi-inning rehab outings this week, he could be activated from the 15-day injured list and return to Minnesota's bullpen by the weekend. When Tonkin returns to the Twins, he'll be making his 2025 debut after opening the year on the 15-day injured list with a strained right shoulder.

Minnesota Twins utility man Willi Castro (oblique), who is on the 10-day injured list with a right-oblique strain, continues to perform most baseball activities, including hitting from the right side. Castro will hit from the left side on Tuesday, which should give the team a better idea of whether he could return from the IL in time for the series opener against the Boston Red Sox on Friday. The 28-year-old is eligible to come off the IL on Thursday, but it remains to be seen if that will actually happen without Castro going on a short minor-league rehab assignment. The Puerto Rican switch-hitter was mostly playing third base at the time of his injury with Royce Lewis (hamstring) on the shelf, but when he returns, he could bounce around between the infield and outfield. Castro will be returning to a .227/.292/.364 slash line with just one homer, five RBI, a steal and seven runs scored in his 66 at-bats.

Los Angeles Dodgers relief pitcher Kirby Yates allowed an unearned run in the 10th inning but still secured the win on Monday as the Dodgers walked off winners over the visiting Marlins. With the score tied 5-5, Yates came on to pitch the 10th inning and allowed the runner placed on second base to start the inning to come around to score on Jesus Sanchez's RBI double. He avoided further damage, though, and the Dodgers stormed back for two runs in the bottom of the inning on a two-run single from Tommy Edman. Yates' win was his third of the season, and he is now 3-1 with a 2.63 ERA and 1.82 FIP to go with 24 strikeouts in 13 2/3 innings this season. He has no saves but six holds to go with his three wins, and he'll remain a high-leverage option out of the bullpen for the Dodgers going forward.

New York Mets DH Jesse Winker turned in a productive day in a 19-5 win over the Washington Nationals on Monday. Winker went 2-for-4 with two walks, four runs, and an RBI in the lopsided victory over Washington. The veteran needed that as he has been off to a slow start in 2025, hitting just .220 with one homer, seven runs, eight RBI, and a stolen base across 59 at-bats. He is starting to show signs of life with a .286 average over his past seven games. That being said, he is off the radar in fantasy outside of the deepest leagues.

New York Mets outfielder Jeff McNeil hit his first homer of the season in a 19-5 blowout win over the Washington Nationals on Monday. McNeil went 2-for-5 with a triple, a homer, and three RBI to help power the Mets to the win. The veteran has logged just 12 at-bats in 2025 after spending the majority of the season on the injured list while recovering from a right oblique strain, but he's wasted little time catching up as he's hitting .333 with three RBI thus far. McNeil will look to stay hot as the Mets open up a series against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Tuesday.

Atlanta Braves closer Raisel Iglesias picked up his fifth save of the season in Monday's 6-3 win over the Rockies. Iglesias entered to pitch the bottom of the ninth inning up by three. He got the first two outs on a fly-out and a line-out, allowed a double, and ended the game with a strikeout. The 35-year-old veteran has been inconsistent so far this season, converting five of seven save opportunities with a 5.73 ERA, an 8.18 K/9 rate, and a 1.64 BB/9 rate in 11 innings of work. He has split save opportunities over the last seven days with Dylan Lee, who converted one of two with a 0.00 ERA. While Lee has pitched well this season, Iglesias has a long track record of being a higher-end closer, so he will likely be given some leash to get things back on track.

Houston Astros closer Josh Hader picked up his eighth save of the season in Monday's 8-5 win over the Tigers. Hader came in to pitch the top of the ninth inning up by three. He got the first two outs on a fly-out and a strikeout, allowed a double, and ended the game with another strikeout. The 31-year-old has been excellent so far even by his standards, converting all of his save opportunities with a 0.64 ERA, a 12.21 K/9 rate, and a 1.93 BB/9 rate. Free passes and home runs have been issues for Hader at times throughout his career, but he has done a great job limiting free passes and has yet to allow a homer.

Houston Astros second baseman/left fielder Jose Altuve had a nice game at the plate in Monday's 8-5 win over the Tigers. Batting second, Altuve went 2-for-4 with a single, a two-run home run, and three RBI. The 34-year-old turned on a sixth-inning Jack Flaherty fastball, launching it off the left-field signage to put the Astros up by one. Altuve had been scuffling at the plate recently, so this performance will hopefully jump-start things again. Overall, he is slashing a respectable .282/.316/.409 with four HR, 12 RBI, and three stolen bases in 117 plate appearances.

St. Louis Cardinals left-hander Steven Matz will draw the start in Wednesday's game against the division-rival Cincinnati Reds at Great American Ball Park. It will be Matz's second start of the year, and he'll be pitching on three days of rest after getting two outs out of the bullpen on Saturday against the Milwaukee Brewers. The 33-year-old veteran southpaw has pitched well for the Red Birds early on in 2025 -- he's allowed four earned runs on 15 hits (no homers) while walking only three and striking out 14 in 20 innings, but he'll still be a pretty volatile streaming option in a hitter-friendly ballpark this week. In his lone start this year on April 16 against the Houston Astros, Matz got the win by giving up just one earned run in five innings while walking none and striking out five.

Colorado Rockies infielder/outfielder Kris Bryant (back) will have "follow-up scans" on his back after visiting with Dr. Robert Watkins on Monday, according to general manager Bill Schmidt. The result of Bryant's follow-up scans will guide the team through the next steps of Bryant's hopeful return. Bryant made it only 11 games with the Rockies in 2025 before landing on the 10-day injured list earlier this month with lumbar degenerative disc disease. The 33-year-old has essentially been injured ever since he joined the Rockies for the 2022 season and hasn't played in more than 80 games in a single year since then. He started out this year going 6-for-39 (.154) with no homers, two doubles, an RBI, two walks and 13 strikeouts before getting hurt yet again. At this point, the four-time All-Star and former MVP could be looking at a career-ending injury if he cannot bounce back and return at some point this year.

The Baltimore Orioles placed catcher Gary Sanchez (wrist) on the 10-day injured list on Monday with right-wrist inflammation and selected the contract of catcher Maverick Handley from Triple-A Norfolk in a corresponding move, according to MASN's Roch Kubatko. With Sanchez going on the shelf, Handley will provide catching depth for the O's behind starter Adley Rutschman for the time being. Sanchez has not been on the fantasy radar, even in two-catcher leagues, in 2025. The veteran Dominican backstop went 0-for-5 with three strikeouts over the weekend in two games against the Detroit Tigers and has gone 3-for-30 with four RBI, a run scored, one walk and 12 strikeouts in his first 12 games for the O's in 2025. The two-time All-Star will not have much fantasy appeal in Baltimore once he returns unless Rutschman misses time with an injury.

Baltimore Orioles manager Brandon Hyde said that right-handed reliever Andrew Kittredge (knee) will throw a live batting practice session on Wednesday. It will be the first time that Kittredge will face live hitters since having arthroscopic surgery on his left knee during spring training in March. The 35-year-old veteran reliever began the 2025 season on the 15-day injured list but is making good progress and could be ready to come off the IL for his season debut in May. When healthy, Kittredge could develop into a key late-inning setup man for the Orioles in front of closer Felix Bautista. If he's able to get through a couple live batting practice sessions, Kittredge should be cleared for a minor-league rehab assignment sooner than later. He has yet to pitch in 2025 for Baltimore but was an All-Star in 2021 with the Rays and had a 2.80 ERA with 67 strikeouts in 70 2/3 frames a year ago.
